Funds contributed to a 529 Plan more than one year before the date of filing are excluded from bankruptcy if the beneficiary is a child, stepchild, grandchild, or step-grandchild. However, of the funds contributed between 365 and 720 days prior to filing, only $5,000 per beneficiary is excluded.
