Legal Question in Business Law in Ohio
do i need a business license to work as a self employed independent landscaping contractor
1 Answer from Attorneys
Dear Independent contractor: Short answer: No. Longer answer: Yes, dependent upon the manner of your business, you should consider forming an LLC to provide some degree of immunity from persona liability for claims and damages, and collections by creditors., If you have any employees, (including yourself), you must also have Workers' Compensation coverage for yourself as well as for your employees. You must also obtain, pay for and maintain full insurance coverage for all of your operations and services, as well as for all of your motor vehicles, plus protection against theft, etc.
I strongly urge you consult an experienced Attorney to assist and advise you in setting up a proper business, including simple but sound accounting practices, invoicing and collecting payment for your services, to assure you of a good opportunity to stay in business.
Where experience counts, count on professional experience! Good luck! God Bless...
Sincerely,
J. Norman Stark, Attorney.
