in a civil law suit does the losing party pay for both legal fees

In a civil lawsuit, typically each party bears the cost of his/her own attorney.
However, if the parties are in a contract with one another, there may be contractual provisions which require one to pay the attorney�s fees of the other in the event of litigation.
In addition, depending upon the claims being made in the lawsuit, there may be specific laws which require one party to pay the attorney�s fees of the other.
So, that is the long way of saying, �it depends�.
