cleaning business

Owner 's of a cleaning business. because we will not sign a agreement with this apartment complex after cleaning appox .10 apartments the manager said they will not pay our business. what can we as a business do to collect our hard earned money. This management company has a bad record of how they treat people. If we have to take stepes for legal action we won't them to pay for more then what thay owe us. Thanking you in advance.

This brings to light a common problem. In most cases, you cannot sue for legal fees and expenses in addition to the money you are owed. Many attorneys believe this is ridiculous, as this requires you to lose part of what you are due. In most other civilized countries, and some other states, fees are added to a legitimate debt so the debtor who neglects an obligation pays, not the innocent party who has to sue to collect.

Ask your state legislator why Ohio law does not allow collection of fees along with a legitimate debt
