Ultimately nothing. Both indicate that a company is a limited liability company. A limited liability company can use "limited liability company," "LLC," "limited," or "Ltd" in its name to indicate the type of company it is.

As a Franchise Attorney I only add the following to the other attorney answer. First, in an LTD, a shareholders liability is limited to whatt he/she invested in the company. In an LLC, members are protected from some or all liability depending on the jurisdiction. Second, shares of a LTD cant be sold to the general public whereas an LLC can involve members ranging from one to multiple individuals. Third, there are various tax differences. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
