Legal Question in Business Law in Ohio

Can i be fired?

Keeping in mind that nothing was said directly to one person or the other.

Is it possible to be fired for an argument with a supervisor outside of work, and after work hours on private (non company owned) cell phones when the use of racial slurs occur?

Re: Can i be fired?

Dear Fired Employee:

Unless you have an employment contract with your employer, you are (or were) an at-will employee. This means that your employer may terminate you at any time, even without cause.

You may still have the right to seek and obtain unemployment coverage to tide you over, based upon the facts you presented. However, as you've now learned,it's never wise to get into any controversy with a superior. As Mel Brooks,a well-known comedian put it: "It's good to be the king!".

Good luck.
