Legal Question in Business Law in Ohio
Liability of Hiring a Light Delivery Person
I have a small cookie business that offers cookie bouquets. I would like to hire a part-time (10 hours per week) person to deliver bouquets locally, within 25 mile radius. I am currently the only ''employee'' but I have the business organized as an LLC. For what am I, the employer liable? Accidents? Insurance? Other things to consider? Thank you!

Re: Liability of Hiring a Light Delivery Person
You could be liable for all of the above...if your driver gets in an accident, you'll want to make sure the company and yourself are covered. Talk to your insurance agent to verify what you'll need. You'll be liable for payroll taxes and withholdings, so your CPA can help you with that. Have your attorney verify that you are handling the LLC properly and keeping the corporate form. It's easy as a one member LLC to co-mingle assets and monies and wind up losing the protection of the corporate form. Good luck!
