I own a LLC. I am thinking of buying a small company which is incorporated. Can I keep the name of the corporation and set it up as a LLC operating as a division of my current business?

Dear Businessperson: You certainly may operated a corporation as a division of your LLC. However, you may be looking at duplicate taxation needlessly. You may wish to contact your tax accountant to learn how to operate without incurring double taxes. For example, if the corporation actually shows no profit at the end of the year, there'll be no taxable income.
Consult an experienced tax advisor - CPA or Atorney CPA. Good luck. Sincerely, J. Norman Stark.
