nonpayment for services rendered.
did work at a resturant, and they quit paying on their work
that was done and they did pay by check .What are our rights
for legal action.

You can sue them for nonpayment of the debt, as well as wrongful dishonor of the check, including therein all service charges you had to pay as a result of their actions.

contact a local attorney, but from what you have said, you should sue them
