Legal Question in Business Law in Ohio
small business verbal contract
My father owns a pizzaria, and he rents the propery and building. the building we are currnetly in is in shambles, it is actually hurting our business. the landlord offered to build a new shop as long as we would sign a longterm lease. we agreed, but still have not signed anything. the building was started almost 3 years ago and still isnt finished. our person who was backing us with money for the move bailed out. and now we are shutting down, what responsibilty do we have to the owner of the property? can he sue us even though nothing was ever signed?

Re: small business verbal contract
Verbal contracts still have to be proven in court, although it sounds like the landlord has failed to perform his end of teh deal in an adequate fashion. If he sues you, you can counterclaim for loss of business.
