Legal Question in Business Law in Ohio
Is a verbal auto repair estimate a verbal contract? I am worried that I will be taken advantage of without a written estimate, as the repair is taking twice as long as initially estimated. The repair was for an imperative issue (was losing brake fluid very quickly) that needed to be repaired as soon as possible, and I was too flustered to think to get a written estimate. Thank you.

Under the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act, you have a right to a written estimate. Should the auto repair shop engage in any funny business regarding the amount you need to pay them versus the amount they orally quoted them, you might remind them of your rights under the Ohio CSPA. If they insist on charging you a higher price, you can consult with an attorney who practices consumer law for explore your options.
