Legal Question in Business Law in Ohio
Won a Default Judgement
We have a default judgement against a non profit corporation in OH that was issued on Jan 10. How long does the defendant have to appeal the judgement? We are going to attemept to levy the bank account and wanted to wait until after the appeal period was over. Thank you.

Re: Won a Default Judgement
Dear Victor:
Congratulations on your Default Judgment. Under the law of Ohio, the Defendant has 30 days from the date of the Judgment Entry filed by the Court, to appeal. And, unless the Notice of Appeal is actually filed, and a copy is served upon you by U.S. Mail, or Personal Service, on or before the end of the 30th calendar day, you may proceed to levy execution on your judgment. If the 30th day falls on a weekend or holiday, then the next business day is the cutoff day.
Good luck.
Sincerely, J. Norman Stark
