Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Ohio

Bad Landlord

I signed a lease with my landlord for one year. There was a lot of work that needed to be done and evrytime he promised to come over he never showed up. I was getting shocked from bad electrical wiring. I got pregnant and he allowed me to verbally break my contract and move i was behind on my rent but agreed to pay it as soon as i got the number. now i am being harasses with messages on my cell swearing at me stating that my miscarriage was probably a result of me being irresponsible and other very hurtful things having nothing to do with the rent....is this legal can they get away with verbally and emotionaly harassing me like this?? I am making an honest attempt to pay them but with my miscarriage I was not able to work for a while. I had talked to them though and they were fine with me paying them back as soon as i could....I have the messages saved..i need to know if what they are doing is legal.

Re: Bad Landlord

I would suggest that you write this person and request that no future contact be made over the telephone for starters. You may have an opportunity to sue him if your facts permit you to legally justify your leaving. that wouild require a long conversation. This kind of collector behavior can also be actionable in some cases. You need to talk about this to a lawyer - too many facts unknown
