Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Ohio
bagged searched at walmart
Last night 2/7/05, my boyfriend and I were shopping at Walmart. We were checked out by the cahsier that was located directly next to the exit door. After we paid for our merchandise and proceeded to leave the door greeter approached me and said he needed to see my reciept. He very slowly looked through my bag to make sure I did not steal everything. What was extremely offensive is that he was standing next to the cah register we had been checked out at. Also he had not done this to anyone else. Possibly it was that we were a bi racial couple? I dont know what his reasons were but I know I hadnt even reach the doorway. I purchased those items, therefore I feel he had no right to look at them. I had done nothing to make him think I was shoplifting. The manager appolized and gave us a gift card, but we still we upset and returned our merchandise. Is this legal?

That's customary there. They don't have to it to everyone leaving, just a random thing.
