Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Ohio

I know this isnt fair, and no one is helping us.

Me my husband and our three children have owned our home in akron ohio for 3 yrs. Our minivan was stollen in sept. and we had to relocate to my mothers house in canton so the city could do lead abatement work on our house, which is costing us 22 thousand out of our pocket. today we recieved a call from the contactor that our house was broken into and my daughters dresser was stollen, a stero and a chair. the dresser contained a lot of her clothing that we left there. The city gave us no other choice to follow through with them, and now we are going to have a 500 dollar deductable, not including the deductable for our van that is still in the shop. The police havent helped us at all, and neither has the city, now we are just further in debt and i feel totally violated by given no choices or say and not being treated right by the police or the city workers. Its almost christmas and the said at first that we wouldnt have to be out of our house during the holidays. They have been nothing but rude, the police didnt even get out of their car, gave me a piece of scrap paper for a report number. Who is liable for all this repairs that were demaned to be done by the city, or for my deductables when im not even living there?? Need answers

First of all, you cannot sue the city. There is a statute that prevents that. Sounds to me that you have only the deductible as your loss. When your insurance company wants a list of what was lost, include everything even remotely connected and see what they do. All the rest is a consequence of living in a big city: broken promises, ineffective police...not anything you can sue for.
