Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Ohio
false arrest and imprisonment
I was arrested and taken immediately to jail. 4 days later the sheriff issued an affidavit of complaint wherein he made false allegations which he knew to be false or should have known. I was in jail 14 days and the prosecutor subsequently asked the judge to dismiss because no formal charges could be found on record. What is my cause, if any and what are time limits. This was last June.

Re: false arrest and imprisonment
It certainly sounds like you may have a claim. What were you arrested for? What did the affidavit of complaint allege? How do you know the sheriff knew or should have known that the allegations were false? What do you mean no formal charges could be found on record?
