past due fees
1. how long does an attorney have to come after you for a past due balance?
2. if you wrote a letter explaining why you are disbuting this and the people in their office representing them agree you owe nothing do and everything was put on hold for 1 year, do they still have a right to file a judgement against you in court?

Yes. Anyone you owe money to is allowed to reduce that debt to a judgment against you, and with that comes the right to garnish wages and attach bank accounts. Lawyers know all about these things.
