Video Surveillance at work

I work in a retail store. I was recently reprimanded for conversations relating to the store owner and her manner of conducting business. These conversations took place as we worked behind the counter, with no other employees or customers in the store. The owner said, ''I know everything that goes on in the store. Everything.'' I asked if this meant that we are being taped or videod and she said, ''yes. I told you that some of the vid

eo cameras work. You are on tape and I heard what you said.'' None of us who are employed at the store knew that our conversations were being taped and listened to. We have discussed many personal topics while we are alone. Can she do this to us without advising us?
