Legal Question in Technology Law in Ohio

Software license

I am beginning a career as a programmer and have a general understanding of software licenses. I want to know what has to be done to make them ''legal'' or ''binding''. Do I have to come up with every circumstance I can think of, or can I give general rules within the license agreement? Is there a particular format? Is this something that I can likely write myself or do I need a professional lawyer to handle this? Please help me clear up these questions and anything else related that you think that would help. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Re: Software license

There are general rules that should be applied, from both an intellectual property, and general contract and commercial law perspective. I regularly draft and negotiate software license agreements, and strongly recommend a comprehensive one from the onset.
