Legal Question in Technology Law in Ohio

Software Piracy

Is there a database or listing somewhere that I can see/print out companies that have lost lawsuites concerning installing software without a license. I am trying to show my company that we NEED to become complient, but most of them do not think companies in the United States actually get sue/fined for install for example: 1 actual office program on 10 different machines. I have finally been approved to have an upper management meeting - but I am required to bring proof that companies get fined.

They do get sued and your company may be made an example of. I'm about to get a large settlement or sue a company in FL for this very thing. You would need someone to research this on a legal site like westlaw. Your company should pay an attorney to give an opinion on this if they really wanted to know, but they don't, do they. Ultimately, you'll have to decide whether your position makes you vulnerable to this type of serious liability.
