Legal Question in Construction Law in Ohio
I am a sub-contractor and have done work for a general contractor. He is not paying my total invoiced amount and has sent me a check that has a note in the memo: "Paid in full". If I deposit this check, does this relieve him of the balance due or does this note on the check not mean anything legally? I would like to take him to small claims for the remainder of the amount.

If you cash this check, this could be a payment in full, you may not be entitled to anything else. If you are not too late, you should take him to small claims now.
Also, remember that there is a Prompt Pay Law in Ohio that could entitle you to attorneys' fees and 18% interest if he has the money from the owner and has not paid you within a reasonable time after that.
