Legal Question in Consumer Law in Ohio
Deposit return
I had to deposit money to obtain service from a local utility company. It has been three years since I deposited the money and I have since closed my account with them. They claim the deposit was turned over to the state of Ohio Division of Unclaimed Funds, but there is no record of anything from that company being turned over, according to the state of Ohio. The utility company tells me there is nothing they can do since they turned it over and the state of Ohio told me that the company must still have it. Where do I go from here?

Re: Deposit return
I would take the company to small claims court depending upon when the account arose. This will force them to produce the documentation that they filed the money with the State of Ohio
Another option would be to contact PUCO to complain. It is a state agency. You can find it in the OHIO HOMEPAGE.
Good luck
