Legal Question in Consumer Law in Ohio
Faulty Auto Repairs
I have had my car into the dealership 4 times to have the brakes worked on. The front rotors and pads were replaced approximately 2-3 weeks ago. On Tuesday, as I was driving down the highway, the brake light came on. I immediately called the dealership, made an appointment for Friday. On Weds.I was driving down the street, in city limits, 25-30 mph, went to stop at an intersection. I had no brakes. There was nothing. I avoided a telephone pole however, had a intimate meeting with a tree. I do not want to face higher insurance rates. Apparently something is wrong with the brake system. What is the best way to deal with this?

Re: Faulty Auto Repairs
If the car is new(less that one year old or 18,000 miles) then the vehicle may qualify as a lemon. Otherwise, you may have a claim against the dealership who made the repair. The cause of action would be negligence and the consumer sales practices act.
God Luck.
Re: Faulty Auto Repairs
I would love to have a look at the repair records on the vehicle. If the dealership has represented to you that it would repair the brakes, has attempted to do so on four occasions, and each time taken your money to do so, it would appear that you have an action for breach of contract. You should demand a meeting with the service manager to clarify what they have been doing with your vehicle and what they have been charging you for.
