Legal Question in Consumer Law in Ohio

Membership payment refund

I recently followed a pop-up ad regarding classmates and reunions. Not what I thought it was, and I didn't realize that when I went further, as in paying the membership fee, that I was entering into a ''no refund of membership payment'' agreement. I tried to contact their member service center within 7 hours (after I figured out what was going on), got a response days later saying no payment will be refunded for my dissatisfaction with the program. Anything else I can do to have this membership cancelled WITH a payment return?

Re: Membership payment refund

All contracts have a 3-day recession period in which you can change your mind. You should be eligible for a refund of any monies you paid since you contacted them within 7 hours of discovering the error. Call the company and get the name of the manager or owner. Then write him/her a letter, explaining what happened and demand a refund since you cancelled within your 3-day recession period. Make sure you send the letter by "certified" mail, return-receipt requested.

Next, make sure the company cannot deduct any more monthly charges by notifying your credit card company or bank.
