Legal Question in Consumer Law in Ohio
Pay day loan threat
Good morning,
I am in desperate need of assistance on how to handle a phone call I received Monday. I received a call for a person named Jason Hunt from the Department of Crimes Prevention/Investigation 973-878-4019. His is demanding that I give him my credit card information over the phone for a pay day loan that wasnt paid back in 2007 ? I will admit that I was having some financial difficulty back them but I show paying off every pay day loan that I had. I asked him to email me over the apparent lender information that was requesting payment and he wouldnt do that. I also asked him to provide me with the companies name and he said he could release that information to me after my credit card went through. This person also stated that if I dont provide him with my credit card information tomorrow 4/15/09 that the local authorities/police would show up at my workplace or home and arrest me for non payment ? Is there anything you can do to assist me with or point me in the proper direction ?
Thank you

Re: Pay day loan threat
It's obviously a scam. You can't be arrested for non-payment of a loan. Certainly don't provide anyone with your credit card information; and you may want to make a report with your local police department.
