Question on Car paint Warranty Service
I had a car painted at a local car paint shop a month ago. I paid extra to have some body work done on the wheel wells to remove some corrosion. The shop has a written 90 day period to notify them of complaints about defects in workmanship. It also has a 3 year warranty on the paint job itself, less exclusions for certain items like corrosion (unless you pay extra to have it treated, which we did).
After 30 days I visited the paint shop and spoke to the manager because corrosion had again appeared on the fender that his shop repaired. He said that it would always come back and that he would only repair it once. Can he say this even though I have a written guarantee on the paint job for 3 years?
Also he wants me to bring back the original receipt when I drop the car off to have it worked on. His warranty paperwork says nothing about having to do this. I think he either intends to confiscate the warranty paperwork or void it when I come in. Do I have to present my originals or can I show him a copy?
Also, can he alter the original warranty after the work has been done? If so, how? Do I have to agree to this?
If he confiscates my paperwork and refuses to return it, can he do that?

Make a copy of your warranty. Also ask for a written explanation.

I would not give them the original warranty. Sounds like something needs further investigation. Feel free to call me for a consultation.
