Legal Question in Consumer Law in Ohio

unauthorized auto repairs

Recently we took our blazer to the place we bought it from to have it checked by a mechanic because we believed it might be a repair that would be covered by our warranty. Two days later we found out that the dealer authorized repair at a local mechanic they go through without asking our permission or even giving us a quote. They say we now owe them $185.00 for repairs. The repairs needed to be done anyway, but are we legally obligated to pay them since they did not get out permission to perform these repairs?

Re: unauthorized auto repairs

Auto repairs are covered under Revised code 1345 under the consumer sales practices act(CSPA). The repair facility is required to give you a written estimate and failure to do so can result in penalties under the CSPA. Due to the amount of the claim I would sue in small claims court, if the dealer gives you a hard time about this bill.
