Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio
900 Calls by minors
My 11yr old made a call to a 900 sex line. He claims a voice came on the line, asked his age, he replied 37, the continued by asking for hobbies, then repeatedly asked him to hold while being connected. He hung up. A $16 call. I called the phone co & had the charges removed as he was a minor & placed a block. The sevice provider placed us in collection for the $16 within one week after I disputed the billing and had the charges removed. I called the provider to discuss the matter. There claim is that he broke the law by claiming he was over 18 & that federally it comes down to a parental problem. They also claim that the current laws are in their favor and that we well pay the $16 or face criminal charges and fines. I was hung up on immediatly following the above conversation. Ive refused to pay, what now?

900 calls by minors - in collection
I would ignore it. The service provider will be hard pressed to find someone to do a $16 collection. Is that $16 part of your regulartelephone bill? If so, do not pay it and writeat the top of the endorsement section on theback of your check, "Account in full to date."
