Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio
bank charge off
we overdrew our ckg. acct. and the bank kept piling overdraft fees to bring the grand total on about $200.00 worth of checks to nearly $700.
we have not been able to pay it off (this was not yet two months ago). the bank will not accept the payments i am able to make and said that we're comitting a felony. are they required to accept anything we pay, and what can happen to us otherwise?
thanks for your time.

Re: bank charge off
The bank is not "required" to accept restitution on the checks. Once the bank acccepts money, that gets rid of the ciminal intent involved. I would open up another account at that bank and call it the restitution account. That way you can show the prosecutor that you do not have intent to issue the bad checks.
The potential penalty is in the years in prison, but the likelyhood of that happening is very slim.
