bounced check

Collection agency is saying I bounced a check in 1983

{20 yrs ago}.They bought my account from someone and now they want to collect.They can't send me any proof of the check I supposedly bounced.What should I do?

The statute of limitations on the bounced check is 4 years. If you are sued, assert that defense.
