Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Confused about the Judgement??

Thanks for taking the time to help. I had a Judgement against me regarding a credit card that I could not keep up the payments. The card was actually frozen back in 2001 and the loan had apparently been sold and a firm in Philidelphia, Pa received a Judgement of which I had no advance knowledge. I was under the impression that the debt was written off by the credit card company. Recently about two months ago I received a post card from a court asking me to either request a hearing or not. The hearing was to be informal where they would decide if I had any viable worth that could be liquidated down to pay off some if not all of the Judgement. They gave me ten days to get the card back to them of which I did immediately. Since then two months or more have passed and I have only received one correspondence dated July 11th, 2006. It was offering me 25% reduction on a debt of 6523.23 with the majority of that debt being interest. I have nothing and I am unemployed at this time. The question is what to do and what reason would they have for not giving me a hearing date and then all of a sudden offering me a reduction. Thanks again for your help

Re: Confused about the Judgement??

I believe that the post card you got was from the court about contesting a possible wage garnishment/bank attachment. You should call the clerk to see about a hearing. The settlement offer is direct from the creditor and not from the court.
