I cosigned for my son, now what??

I cosigned for my son( I now know stupid!!). He will not contact me now. Bank has. Do I have any rights if I pay this loan?? I had excellent credit until this. I am willing to pay if I have any rights. Am also willing to let my credit go if I have no rights.

Please advise.

If you pay, you have the right to sue your son in contribution for the amount of the debt that you paid for him/
