Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio
A credit card company is taking me to court in September for a Judgment Debtor Examination. I am unemployed and my husband is on unemployment. Should we file for bankruptcy? I'm not sure how we will pay for a lawyer to do that but would it stop this court proceeding from taking place?

In Ohio, it depends upon how much you owe, not just on this judgment, but also how much you owe to all of your other creditors.
Most bankruptcy lawyers are going to need about $1200 to $1400 or so to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy on your behalf so it is not a crazy amount of money. If you are in central Ohio, give Nobile & Thompson a call. They are very good at bankruptcy law.
