Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Current spouse liable for wifes defaulted car loan

I defaulted on a car loan in '92.I was not married at that time and married in 7/04.Recently a company contacted me saying they were filing a civil suit to collect this defaulted loan and that they could garnish my husbands wages up to 25% when they get judgement against me. Can they garnish his wages to pay a debt that I defaulted on before we were married?

No, they cannot garnish his wages for your debt, although they can garnish a joint bank account where his wages end up.
