Only your husband can do that. The social worker might be able to help by getting the right papers and witnessing a nod of the head or an eye blink signal to indicate that your husband is agreeing to the POA. As long as you are doing a financial POA, you should also get (if you don't already have them) a medical power of attorney to make health care decisions for your husband and a living will to cover decision making for end of life situations. The Ohio State Bar Association and the Ohio State Medical Association teamed up to prepare standard forms and any nursing home should have them available. It is a "fill in the blank" process to get the forms ready and you may not need an attorney.
