Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Incorrect credit reports delayed home improvement loan, damage to my home due to

I recently applied for a home improvement loan to replace the roof on my home. 2 incorrect credit reports delayed processing of that loan. A judgement had been issued against me from a co-signed car loan in 1993. I paid the loan in full by 1997. The initial bank never notified the courts the loan had been paid. My roof continued to leak while the dispute was being resolved. The inital bank was delaying the process by passing my problem from one person to another for 21/2 weeks. Damage occured to the ceilings in my home. I am still trying to obtain a corrected credit report. Do I have any recourse?

Absolutely. It sounds like an ideal case for a lawyer under the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, complete with "damages" which motivates lawyers all the more. Find a local attorney, FAST, and be prepared to sue the roof off of some fat bastards. (Pardon my legal jargon and my French.)

Good luck.
