If you have a judment filed against you and are unemployed what would be the next steps? Can they take money from my joint checking account?

If the other party is persistent and the judgment is worthwhile to them, yes, they can attach your joint accounts. The fact that you are unemployed has no bearing other than they can not garnish your wages until you are gainfully employed.
