Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Maximum car value purchase allowed without seizure by collection agencies

My only income is Social Security Disability and I need to get a car for transportation to doctors and groceries. I owe several collection agencies for medical debts. Is there a value of an auto I can get without the agencies seizing the car for debt satisfaction? My son is willing to buy one for me but I don't want him to waste his money if it is going to be seized. My son wants the car in my name for insurance purposes. Please help me. I can't afford to go to an attorney. Thank You!
