Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio
I have an outstanding credit card debt of about $4,000 (originally). I have not made a payment on this debt since february of 2008. Now a debt collection agencyAsset Acceptance has filed a civil lawsuit within the municipal court. They have tried to reach me via certified mail but I have not yet been to post office to pick up mail. The only reason I know of this is because two different attorneys offices are trying to represent me and have sent me notices of the filed case. Where do I go from here?

In Ohio, you are going to have to file an answer to the lawsuit or face default judgment. You could try contacting the plaintiff's attorney to see if they will take less than what they are asking for to avoid the costs of litigation.
