Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

I signed a 19-page document as POA for my uncle. The nursing home only sent page 9 to the pharmacy company which was only signed with my name but stated POA on page 1. I'm being sued for the 1700$ that is due. My uncle past 1 1/2 ago with no money. What can I do?

You should file an answer in the court in which you are being sued indicating that you are not the proper defendant to the lawsuit, and that the person responsible for the bill is your uncle who has passed away (you might want to obtain a death certificate).

If you can provide the whole of the POA form, and it indicates that you are not agreeing to take on any responsibility for the debts, an agent is generally not liable for the debts of his principal.
