Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Summons for Passing Bad Check

I received a summons for passing a bad check. When I first received the notice that the check came back NSF I sent my son to the merchant that I wrote the check to, to pay for the check and the fees they charged. Unfortunately, my son shoved the money and notice in the glove compartment of his car and did not pay the merchant. Unaware of his actions, I therefore received a summons to appear. I know I must appear but what do I plead int this case? The check was only for the amount of $24.00.

Re: Summons for Passing Bad Check

Plead not guilty at the arraignment, and see if you can talk to the prosecutor about dismissing the charges for making full restitution and a little extra. The responsibility for making good is yours and yours alone.
