In Ohio, a spouse can be responsible for another spouse's debt if it is for necessities. But it may be difficult for a creditor to prove that the items purchased were for necessities like food, shelter, utilities, clothing, etc. Jewelry, new carpet and drapes, or a trip to the beach etc. won't qualify.
