Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

5th degree felony breaking and entering

A few of my friends broke into a Jr. High

and stole some candy. Someone told on

them and the cops searched their ouse,

finding the candy. They are now being

charged with 5th degree felony

breaking and entering and petty theft.

Is there any way that they could avoid

jail time or get off on the charges. The

person who told on them has recently

skipped town and the cops are looking

for him now for some reason. Also, they

have not yet been summoned. Please

respond ASAP.

Re: 5th degree felony breaking and entering

You need to talk directly to an attorney.

Having a theft offense on your record is no way to start out your life! How old are the people who are being charged? Have statements been made to the police? Who owned the place(s) that were searched? In addition to the search warrants, was consent given for the search? Do the people charged have previous records? These are all questions that need to be answered before any meaningful answers can be given to your questions. If you need more help email me with contact information or get in touch with another attorney ASAP.
