Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
My 17-year-old son got caught stealing from Wal-Mart today. Apparently he has done it once before and the value of the items is unknown right now. His record is completely clean besides this incident. He turns 18 in three weeks, will this go on his adult record? Will he serve jail time?

I dont think the police can charge him as an adult since this is not a violent offense, but you need a lawyer, and one can be appointed for him if you cant afford one, so go to the court and make sure one is appointed for him......if the matter stays in juvenile court, this will not be considered an adult offense, but there is always a record of it, for life...if convicted.....juvenile courts have great programs that juvenile court lawyers know about, so find one in that court....jail time? probably not, if this is his first time in trouble...otherwise, look out.... feel free to contact me directly.....216.952.1990
