Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
I am 16 years old. I live in Ohio. I was caught shoplifting a 6 dollar item. The store manager took me to an office where he made me call my mom and a police man came. I was very cooperative and the police officer gave me an assigned court date. The level of degree on the paper said MI. Will this stay on my record forever?will I not be able to get a good job or attend college? What will be the consequences and the procedure in the juvenile courtroom.

First thing, get yourself a lawyer. An M1 is punishable by 180 days in jail and a $1000 fine. This sentence is never rendered against the perpetrator but the consequences could still be expensive and very inconvenient. Your lawyer can request a diversion program which essentially puts you on probation and when probation is over there is nothing on your record.
If there is no diversion program at the court, your juvy record will PROBABLY not be available to colleges or employers. But there is a small chance that the record will pop up if the employer is really diligent about finding out. And then you have some trouble. Don't mess with this, hire an attorney.
