Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Not accurate verbal statement.
I got questioned by the police about a burglary that occured by some friends of mine. I never signed or wrote a statement, and the ''verbal statement'' that is in the discovery pack is not the truth, the police officer that questioned me lied about what I said-now I might have to testify at court and they don't even have a written statement from me or the true statement I said. What do I do?

Re: Not accurate verbal statement.
If you are subpoenaed into court you must answer the questions put to you truthfully. If that means you say that the office incorrectly summarized his interview with you, so be it.
The one thing you do not want to do is lie under oath. That is perjury, a felony offense, and you could be charged with that crime if you lie on the witness stand.
