Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Go ahead and plead guilty?

I am currently involved in a case in which I was charged with a 5th degree felony theft. The case has been dragging on for months now. My lawyer has hinted at a plea bargain, but I think that it still may be months down the line. I just got fired from a very good job that I have held for 6 years because of my arrest record coming up when they did another background check. My next court date is January 20th, but my lawyer said that they will probably postpone it on the prosecutor's request. This is causing me a lot of stress. Should I contact my lawyer and tell him that I want to go ahead and plead guilty or see if they will grant me a plea bargain right now? What is everyone's advice to getting this sped up?

Thanks

Re: Go ahead and plead guilty?

Speed is secondary to results. You should be at least asking for a program to get into whereby you receive no conviction whatsoever at the end of the case. Why hasn't that come up?
