Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
I am being arraigned today for 4th degree felony theft. This is my first offense, what will happen?
I had a job as a Pharmacy Technician and I developed a serious drug addiction. I stole from my work and I got caught and fired in September, 2010. After that, I went to rehab and completed an outpatient program as well and have been clean and happy since but, now I have an arraignment for 4th degree felony theft. I didn't even know I was being arraigned until I googled myself the other day and found the court docket online with my name and my date and time. I was never arrested/questioned. I never received a summons or anything notifying me of my appearance today. I didn't even know what I was being charged with until about 5 minutes ago when someone from Yahoo!Answers answered my questioned and sent me a site with some additional info, including the fact that I'm being arraigned for fourth degree felony theft. I don't have a lawyer and I don't know what to do. I know I have to go to the arraignment and I am going, what is going to happen though? When I got caught the men from the pharmacy board said that I might be eligible for 'drug court' what's that? Please help, any information is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!
1 Answer from Attorneys
You need to get a lawyer who routinely practices in defending felony cases in your area. You can get a referral to such a person by calling your local county or city bar association. If you cannot afford an attorney, then you should call the local public defender's office regarding meeting with them to see if you qualify for their assistance.
These are serious charges. You don't need to be trying to figure out what to do via advice from a free legal questions site. You get what you pay for. You need a real attorney. If anyone asks you any questions about what you are charged with, keep your mouth firmly shut and speak only to your attorney about your case.
