Attempt to Purchase Drugs
My friend was just arrested and charged with attempt to purchase drugs. He insists he is not guilty. How serious and what is the usual punishment for this charge?

Purchasing is as serious as possesssion. Not a felony, unless the amount is over 200gms.
I cannot measure his argument's effectiveness, since I don't know what the officers know and what everything looked like to them.
