Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Bad Check.........

First let me say that I have NEVER been in touble with the law for anything! Secondly, I wrote a check for 146.00 to an antique shop. My wife and I had switched backs a few days prior and I accidently wrote a check on my closed account. It was an honost mistake. After I found out that it was bad and what had happend, paid the antique shop in full including filing fees. During this deboggle, my mother passed and I had to leave town. They put a warrent out for my arrest and suspended my liscense. I live out of town and cannot drive on a suspended liscense and dont have anyone that can take me to court to take care of this via court. I am scared and upset and do not know what to do in this situation and I dont have the money for an attorney. It was 146.00 and I paid it plus fees but still have this lingering over my head and I am losing sleep over this. What do I do? Please help!

Re: Bad Check.........

Based on your question, you do have a problem that should be addressed with an attorney. The warrant for your arrest can be served at any time. If you drive and get stopped for any reason, you will be arrested.

My recommendation is that you should hire an attorney to resolve this issue. Do not delay.

Re: Bad Check.........

The safest thing to do would be to hire and attorney. If you cannot aford an attorney then you could call the police department that put the warrant out for you. If you have paid the shop in full, most likely the police will close the case and release the warrant. The safest thing to do is to hire an attorney! You want to be sure that the warrant gets released. You sure do not want to get arrested the next time you come to Ohio or the next time you get pulled over for a speeding ticket in the State that you are living in now. Feel free to call or email me your contact information if you have additional questions. Good luck! DHD
